Moving out
When the removal crew arrive show them all the items to be moved including any outside effects.
A useful tip is to leave any small items not to be moved in the bathroom clearly labelled “do not move”, large items can also be labelled. Near the end of the move go round with the driver/foreman to check that everything to be moved is loaded.
Moving in
Make sure that you or your representative is at your new home to meet the crew. After the van is unloaded please feel free to check that everything has been delivered and that the removal van returns to us empty.
Animals
Pets or livestock are not allowed to travel in our vehicles, it is helpful if they can be kept out of the way.
Swings/Climbing Frames/Trampolines
Generally dismantling these is one job you will do yourself, remember it can help if you spray the bolts with WD 40 or its equivalent the week before, and be careful not to lose the nuts and bolts. If you would like us to dismantle these items, please discuss this with our surveyor.
Garage/shed
Tie together garden tools, and prepare items to be lifted straight onto the vehicle.
Garden
Please discuss with the surveyor those plants, pots and garden statues that are to be included in the move. Please ensure that any being moved are as clean as possible, prior to the move and it helps to bring smaller lighter pots to one location so the driver knows from the outset what is to be moved.
Refreshments
I am sure you will appreciate, moving house is thirsty work and a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit is a gesture always appreciated, and remember to pack the kettle last!!!
